Early this morning police responded to reports that a man was threatening to jump from the 635 overpass at Royal Lane. Officers were able to take the man into custody and no one was injured.

At 10:53 p.m. Saturday first responders to a 911 call discovered the body of 27-year-old Brenda Gomez-Llane — dead from an apparent gunshot — outside a home in the 11000 block of Amanda Lane, which is near Walnut Hill and LBJ. Police believe Nohel Fransisco-Sanchez, a 37-year old man, to be the shooter, and they arrested Fransisco-Sanchez at the scene. He subsequently was charged with murder and jailed.

Crash near White Rock: via Twitter

Friday a police chase that began at the Chase bank on Garland Road near White Rock Lake ended in a crash near the Easton-Lake Highlands Drive intersection. “Shortly after the offense had been committed, officers from the Metro Unit intercepted the suspect vehicle. They attempted to initiate a traffic stop by activating their lights and siren,” according to the police report. “The suspect was non-compliant. One of the tires on the suspect vehicle became disabled which caused the suspect to lose control of the vehicle and roll several times near the intersection of Easton-E. Lake Highlands. The suspect is currently in fair condition at a local hospital.”

Officer Michael Johnson is on leave after firing his weapon at robbery suspect Gregory McGee. Johnson is an 8-year veteran of the force and this type of administrative leave, following an officer-involved shooting, is “departmental policy,” according to a police spokesperson. In case you missed it, we reported last week on the incident. In a nutshell: in the wee hours of Oct. 22, at the American Dollar Store at Forest-Audelia, Officer Johnson and a partner caught two burglary suspects in action. According to reports, one suspect ran and hopped a fence while suspect McGee hid inside the business. “Standing outside the rear door, Officer Michael Johnson issued verbal commands for McGee to show his hands. McGee failed to comply. Officer Johnson discharged his weapon at McGee, missing him. McGee was then taken into custody without further incident and he was not injured.” Police, via both patrol car and helicopter, searched all morning for the second man, but failed to apprehend him. He is still at large. The only description we have for him is “Black male.” No word on whether he has facial tattoos like his buddy (left).
