Have you ever bemoaned crime, a bad reputation or a potential reduction of property value in your neighborhood? If so, the Dallas Homeowners League is offering a chance to help homeowners like you “take back the neighborhood” with a leadership boot camp.
Mark your calendar — the workshop is Saturday, Aug. 16 at Dallas City Hall from 8:30 a.m.-noon.
The boot camp will include two breakout sessions dedicated to forming and implementing an effective neighborhood crime watch group, a session on addressing animal issues in your neighborhood, one on promoting good stewardship of city parks and facilities (Willis Winters of Parks and Rec will present), one session on neighborhood zoning tools such as conservation districts and stabilization overlays, and, finally, a session on neighborhood branding (which, yes, is an outlandishly hot-button topic in Lake Highlands).
