Folk at Uncle Calvin’s Coffeehouse

Two University of North Texas grads perform this Friday at 8 p.m. — Lisa Markley, a singer-songwriter with a folk/blues/jazz sound, and William Foley, a pianist and composer with more than 30 years of experience. Cost per ticket is $15-$18; call 214.363.0044 or click here for more information.

Annie Benjamin Concert/CD recording

The Lake Highlands resident records her third album live this Saturday at 8 p.m. at Bath House Cultural Center. What has Benjamin been up to since we last wrote about her seven years ago? Per the ticket website, she gives an update:

“During the last few years, I have purchased a new flute, and have been involved in a number of theater productions with Echo Theater, Kitchen Dog Theater and with the playwright David Marquis. I was honored and thrilled to help develop, write and produce “Her Song” at Echo Theater in February of 2014. I am really looking forward to getting back on stage with my guitar and my songs.”

Tickets are $25 and available for purchase online here, while supplies last. Proceeds to benefit the Bath House Cultural Center.

Celebrate America

Lake Highlands United Methodist Church presents a free, patriotic-themed concert featuring its worship choir and band this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. The church will also accept donations to its food pantry during the event.
