Hundreds of Lake Highlands residents this past week expressed discontent via social media about a new Lake Highlands brand, which first was presented at a Public Improvement District event (with little ado) and later on Facebook (with much ado). See our back story here.

Since the unveiling, the Lovelh.org Facebook page, administrated by members of the branding committee, has replaced the original sunshine-hued brand with a basic black and white logo on its profile pic, calling it the “core brand logo (shown in gray scale).”

The committee also has posted the logo in several different colors.

The Lake Highlands resident who started a petition to retract the logo reports via both Facebook and the Advocate comments section that she had a “very productive conversation with a member of the design committee” this week. “I know many of us were off put by the colors of the logo presented last week,” she writes.

“Strangely enough, that is not the official logo you would find featured on street toppers and stickers,” she continues. “While the design is not as inclusive as I would like I’m sure many of you can agree it is a vast improvement from the original design that was released.” Along with that statement, she posted the “core brand logo (shown in gray scale).”

The Lake Highlands Branding Committee according to an online calendar, was slated to make an appearance at this week’s Lake Highlands Exchange Club meeting, but the weekly Exchange Club email doesn’t mention it. I will update the post when I know more. Updated: 12:47 p.m. An Exchange Club rep tells us the branding committee has postponed their presentation.
