Concerts at the Arboretum
Every Thursday night, the Dallas Arboretum hosts a different band on the lush Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn. Bring your favorite food and drinks, and enjoy a concert overlooking a beautiful view of White Rock Lake. All summer concerts are from 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m.

DRC Bloomin’ 4-mile
The Dallas Running Club hosts a monthly race at Winfrey Point. This month marks the annual four-miler, which starts at 8 a.m. Runners and volunteers should register in advance online. Race day registration is available from 6-7 a.m.

Hugelkultur Horticulture
Attend Hugelkultur Horticulture at White Rock Local Garden from 9 a.m.–noon. Texas Worm Ranch’s Heather Rinaldi teaches attendees to use twigs, branches, logs and leaves to make a hugelkultur garden bed, the centerpiece of a fertile, water-efficient plot capable of cultivating fruit, herbs and vegetables.

Gardenlicious Kids Cook-off
Kids cook and submit a healthy dish, which celebrity chefs judge. The contest is open to first- through eighth-graders with any healthy three-ingredient recipe. The deadline for submitting an entry form, available on the Dallas Arboretum’s website along with instructions and rules, is June 8. Entrants must be available to attend the June 29 event; finalists present their dishes to the judges at noon, and the contest runs 1-3 p.m. Funds raised support the Children’s Garden programs.
