On Friday, April 25, the festivities begin when Smith and other football greats — including Lawrence Vickers, Duane Brown, and Jermaine Gresham — will visit Skyview, Wallace, and White Rock elementaries from 9 a.m.-noon to read to students in kindergarten through 2nd grade. Afterwards, the football celebrities will lead an interactive discussion forum that will focus on literacy and education for students in the 3rd grade and beyond. These appearances are closed to the public.

The fun continues on Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. as the players, along with former Lake Highlands coaches and alum, host a free football and cheer clinic at the Lake Highlands YMCA. Children in Kindergarten through 6th grade may participate, but space is limited, so you’ll want to RSVP in advance. Those not participating in the clinic can visit the Healthy Kids Fair from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for an afternoon of lunch, family-friendly games and live entertainment.

For the adults, Wade’s Weekend ends on a fancy note with the “High Rollin’ Heroes Celebrity Casino Night and Auction,” held at Winstons Supperclub on Saturday from 6-9 p.m.
