The Wildcat soccer team made it to regional finals, and their playoff games drew a large group of “exuberant” fans known as LH Rowdies.
The Lake Highlands men’s soccer team came close to earning a spot in the state finals this year, eventually losing to McKinney Boyd in the regional finals. If they’d progressed, they would have played this weekend in Georgetown and likely drawn bus and carloads of hometown fans known as “LH Rowdies.”
Perhaps it’s just as well.
A Georgetown police officer was videotaped pushing and tripping students at the 4A girls’ finals this weekend as Vandergrift High School fans rushed the field following their big win over Wylie East. Parents were first stunned, then furious at their students’ treatment, and some began posting the footage to Youtube before they left the stadium grounds.

Though fans are often warned not to take the field after a match, parents and students are protesting that this celebration, after the first state victory in any sport for the 5-year-old school, was tame. Students from the Leander I.S.D. school were excited, they say, but well-behaved and the revelry short.
Officials are investigating the incident.
