Heads up for runners and cyclists who use White Rock Lake’s loop — the trail will close Wednesday and Thursday while the city’s street department addresses “asphalt issues,” according to the Park Department White Rock Lake supervisor Rob McCauley.

The closure affects the east portion of the lake just north of the bridge at Garland Road and the Garland Road portion of the trail to Winstead, near the spillway and 7-11.

McCauley says staff will be on hand to help direct traffic. The repairs are related to uneven terrain and are part of an effort to increase safety at the popular park, he adds.

He estimates that the trail will reopen by the weekend.

Meanwhile, the road alongside the east trail is accessible. On Garland Road, runners can cross at the light and run on the sidewalk to Winstead. Cyclists can (cautiously) use Garland Road.
