job interviewConrad High School is in Dallas ISD, but the nearly-new campus on Fair Oaks is less than two miles from Lake Highlands High. A majority of their student population is economically disadvantaged.

Sue Giles runs the Academy of Business and Finance there, a sort of school-within-a-school (they also have Academies of Engineering, Hospitality & Tourism, Health Science and Information Technology.) Giles works hard to prepare her students for the world-of-work, and she says they’re ready now to go on job interviews. They can hand over professional-looking resumes, shake hands firmly and look people in the eye. They’ve got everything they need except something to wear.

If you have unneeded clothing items to donate, Giles and her students would be grateful. In particular, she’s looking for gentlemen’s long sleeved shirts and ties, Docker-style trousers, ladies’ blouses, ladies’ skirts & trousers and jackets for both genders.

You can drop your items at the front office of their school, 7502 Fair Oaks Avenue, or Lake Highlands resident Julie Alexander is collecting them on her front porch, 9105 Leaside.

Best of luck on your interviews, students!
