In many romantic relationships, there comes a time when you realize that when your partner says, “Oh I don’t need anything for my birthday/anniversary/random holiday,” it actually means, “If you do nothing for me I will feel like the most forsaken human being on the planet. And you are a heartless jerk.”

Perhaps you aren’t in a romantic relationship, or are in one which involves healthier, direct communication about Valentine’s Day expectations. Luckily for you, you’re off the hook this week. Now, for the rest of us procrastinators who are realizing we need to get our stuff together and do something for Valentine’s Day this Friday, here are a few last minute date options around the ‘hood:

Park Tavern’s Valentine’s Day specials include shrimp spring rolls, lobster bisque, a rotisserie leg of lamb among other dishes listed here. Call 214.446.0710 for reservations.

Kona Grill offers a Valentine’s Day surf and turf menu Feb. 14-16. The multi-day offer is a plus if you’re opting to celebrate during a less hectic evening. Call 214.369.7600 for reservations. Cost is $39.95 per person.

Bread Winners is personalizing plenty of cakes, Rice Krispie treats, iced sugar cookies, cupcakes, and chocolate-dipped strawberries for the holiday. Call 469.232.9798 at least a day in advance if you are looking to order large quantities or customize treats for your honey.

Urban Vines, the restaurant that replaced Cafe Lago near White Rock Lake last year, is offering two special wine flights in honor of Valentine’s Day. Choose between a “romance-inspired” wine flight or the “Valentines Day is a made-up holiday” wine flight. Each flight has tastings of five wine. Additionally, bottles of champagne are half off. Call 214.328.9463 for reservations.

Through Feb. 16, The Asian Mint has several dessert items created especially in honor of Valentine’s Day, including brownie pops, chocolate wine, amaretto affogato, and a very decadent-sounding Godiva liqueur-laced chocolate creme brulee.

Cozy up with your love, enjoy some bites, and watch a movie without breaking the bank at Studio Movie Grill Royal. On Friday and Saturday, an appetizer and two entrees will be discounted to $25, plus bottles of wine are 25% off. Movie tickets are sold separately.
