The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden is temporarily closed, according to Dallas Arboretum spokespeople, for winterizing.
The children’s garden, which opened in September 2013, “will close for a few short weeks to winterize and for exhibit maintenance during the coldest months of the year, beginning this week,” according to a news release.

“As with any outdoor installation, especially one as complex as the Children’s Garden, the Dallas Arboretum needs to close the garden for a short time to do preventative maintenance, especially since there is less traffic during these cold days,” says Mary Brinegar, president of the Dallas Arboretum. “We have received such positive feedback from so many individuals, families, schools, and the press about its opening and impact on the way we teach life and earth science. We have had more than 47 million impressions from the press in the first two months, and the garden is the city’s number one attraction in TripAdvisor. This maintenance will help us keep all our gardens in impeccable shape, so that when people visit, they will have the best experience, especially in the very busy months ahead.”
The rest of the arboretum remains open as usual.
