Dallas policeThe Dallas Police Department says they want to learn more about how to best communicate with residents. The DPD recently was recognized for its exemplary use of social media. This, representatives note, is part of a push by Chief David Brown to utilize social media. But as we all know, when you are using various social media devices — Twitter, Facebook, You Tube, NextDoor, etc. — it’s easy to spread yourself too thin.

Thus, Brown is asking residents to take a quick survey in order to help streamline the department’s communications plan.

The survey may be taken in English or Spanish: http://www.research.net/s/DallasPDsurvey…

Chief Brown is pushing for participation from across the city.

“We plan to go to great lengths to be sure we have the entire city represented,” says Brown “because only then can we make solid decisions for going forward.”

Say police, “The survey is approximately 20 questions long and asks questions about how residents currently share information with Dallas Police as well as how they would prefer to share information with Dallas Police.” And, it asks participants what types of social media they most use, says Shawn Williams, Manager of Media Relations for Dallas Police.

The Dallas Police Department expects to roll out a new communication strategy by the first part of 2014.
