Frequenters of White Rock Lake have noticed mysterious blue x’s marking many trees around the park. The city’s park department assures Dallas Morning News reporter Roy Appleton that they are not marked for destruction. Some speculate they are temporary marked for birdwatching. Former Advocate photographer Robert Bunch is quoted in the story, noting that one of the marked trees is home to a horned owl nest.
