Earlier the this week we published an article about the death of Lake Highlands resident “Hawk”, proprietor of Village Shoes. If you read it, you might have already seen the comment left by Hawk’s wife, Annis Hawkins. If not, here it is—a reason to feel good about our neighborhood and neighbors.

Thank you so much for the beautiful article on my husband Hawk. It describes him perfectly!

Also, “THANK YOU” to all of you Lake Highlands moms who came together and prepared the best meal ever for me, my boys and for my entire family and those friends that returned to our home after the Committal for my husband, Hawk. In all of my years, I have never seen a community come together like our Lake Highlands community. It was not limited to the meal, many of our Lake Highlands moms (and husbands/kids) were present at each of the services in support of me and my boys and to say farewell to Hawk. At every turn you were there and I appreciate
all of you for being so supportive and letting us know how much you cared. We will never be able to repay you for all you have done! LH moms – Thank you, thank you, thank you: Ann Villasana, Mary Barnes, Ci ndy Terrell, Lisa Morris, Ronda Flinn Nix, Lisa Gholston, Crysta Jones, Diane Combs, Molly Taylor, Melinda Miller, Allison Lee, Kelly Mason, Kathy Bankhead, Paula Beasley, Angela Green, Patsy Frederiksen, Melanie Barton, Julie Bonahoom, Melissa Lewis, Rose Boos, Mary Nortier, Vickie Rose, Cindy Borg and Lauri Lueder). Please forgive me if I missed anyone. I sincerely appreciate the entire Lake Highlands community for the love and support shared with us — it is overwhelmingly heartfelt.

A special Thank You to Reverend Dr. Robert C. Preece, Senior Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church for Officiating the Committal at DFW National Cemetery.

Annis Hawkins (Hawk’s wife)
