Exchange club board member Reed Wilcox and Assistant Principal Cecilia Galvan introduced the Youth of the Month and the Character Counts Student awardees, who are pictured above.

Youth of the Month awardees include Shane Bono, who belongs to Lou and Jean Bono, and Katherine McCoy, daughter of Byron and Dean McCoy.

YOTM goes to graduating seniors who have excelled in academics, leadership and school and community service, Exchange Club organizers note.

Character Counts awards went to Peri Bowden, born of proud parents Dwayne and Kelly Bowden, and Thomas Thornton, son of Rev. John and Lynne Thornton—this award recognizes kids who display “strong character traits as a vital part of their daily routine, whether at school or in the community,” organizers say.

The two awards are presented monthly during the school year.
