Stanley Wilson was one of several heroes honored with a Star of Texas Award presented by Texas Governor Rick Perry, CBS News reports.

The honor is reserved for first responders killed or seriously injured in the line of duty. Several responders to the West, TX explosion in April also were honored.

Osvaldo Rojas is gaining widespread attention for his recent appointment as Dallas’ feral hog trapper.  A public radio program this week profiled Rojas and his company, City Trapping.

“If you think about it, Dallas spends millions of dollars on up-keeping at a park,” Rojas told northeast Indiana public radio. “And one hog can tear up half an acre in a night.”

The piece also includes a trailer from an absurd reality show called, “Aporkalypse Now,” in which Ted Nugent shoots hogs from a helicopter.

So aspiring officials get their practice at junior varsity games. Morning News’ Kyle Fredrickson wrote a short interesting piece about the so-called Young Guns, the name for first-year football referees in training, and one Young Guns’ premiere performance at Wildcat-Ram Stadium.
