The 12 winners of the Dallas Children’s Theater’s costume design contest

Students entering kindergarten through grade twelve participated in a hat design contest in honor of DCT’s 30th anniversary season. Twelve winners—one for each show of the season—will help build their hat concept with DCT’s designer in residence, Emmy-nominated Lyle Huchton.

Lake Highlands resident Caleb Jackson’s straw hat was selected for the Charlotte’s Web production in the spring (April 25-June 1). The 9 year old who attends school at Texas Elementary School of the Arts says he wants to be an actor when he grows up and that he entered the contest because he “thought it would be fun.”

Winners will also receive a bio in the show program, four tickets to opening night and recognition on the stage, organizers say. DCT will display all of the hat designs prominently in DCT’s lobby for the entire season.  At the conclusion of the season, the winning hats will be auctioned off in a fundraiser benefiting the theater.
