Northlake Elementary is the neighborhood school that, for a time, was attended primarily by students who do not live in the surrounding neighborhood.
Last spring, parents from said surrounding neighborhood began a campaign to change that, and our coverage of it caused some debate.

Most recently, Richardson ISD announced that Northlake would have a new principal next year.
So those anxious to be involved with the school can meet the new principal at an event this Sunday hosted by the aforementioned Let’s Back Northlake group, according to an email from the Lake Highlands Area Improvement Association.
The Northlake Community Sunday Funday is open to the entire neighborhood, will feature a meet-and-greet with new principal Mary Kellagher and $4 cups of delectable shaved ice from the Enticed food truck.
