If you’ve ever noticed a ring of litter around White Rock Lake, you’re in good company with the people at Shared FUEL. That’s why they host the Litter Project to help eradicate the issue, which you can learn more about on their website.

There are several facets to Shared FUEL’s (Shared Focus on Urban Environment Leadership) Litter Project, which has been an ongoing initiative since 2010.

The part they’d like you to participate in is the summer photo contest, designed to help showcase the litter problem. Each week, the best submitted picture will be posted to their Facebook page.

Screen Shot 2013-06-25 at 8.54.45 AMIn 2011, the group hosted “Trashing our Treasure,” a photography exhibit at the Bath House Cultural Center that aimed to raise awareness about litter at White Rock Lake. We wrote about the show  and Shared FUEL in February 2011.

If you see litter next time you’re out at the lake, snap a shot and email it to Alison Parker. Please include the location where you found the litter. Also, watch the video to learn more.
