“Highlandettes has had such an impact in my life,” she told me, “and I am excited to see how Strutters will leave its mark on me.

“I think the hardest part will be adjusting to little things they do differently than Highlandettes,” Meg continued, “for example, different placement or technique. Not to mention the difficulty level will be higher than what I am used to.”

Meg says she’s most looking forward to college football games, where the Strutters will perform at every home halftime. At their Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos, capacity is about 30,000.

“The crowd will be much larger than at the Boneyard!”

“I am also excited for the numerous trips that Strutters take,” she continued. “They have been to the Caribbean, Ireland, Germany and even performed at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in New York!”

Meg admits, though, that it will be tough to leave Lake Highlands, Texas.

I am going to miss all of the school spirit and support that everyone gives to each organization. I know that there will be a lot of school spirit at Texas State University, but, at the same time, it will not be as personal as Lake Highlands has been.

Meg GarciaThe psychology major says she thinks being a part of the team will be a great help making connections.

“We have line camp almost a month before classes start, so that will allow me to make friends before I move on-campus. That will relieve a lot of stress.”

Break a leg, Meg!
