Brandon Landis in 2011

Brandon Landis in 2011

In 2011, we shot video of Brandon running down the football field, scoring a touchdown. Playing football is one of the many things Brandon is able to do less and less of these days.

He has a condition called Dystonia, a symptom of a neurological movement disorder called NBIA with which doctors diagnosed Landis several years ago. By the time we featured him, it had caused him to lose some control of his hand. The diagnosis means gradual loss of muscle control, involuntary twisting and sometimes pain. It has no cure.

When I wrote about Brandon, several people told me he has a wonderful personality—the type of personality, they said,  that makes people want to do nice things for him.

Well, here’s a fresh example. Brandon is now at LH Freshman Center. He is scheduled for a surgery in April. Several of his classmates came up with the idea to help the Landis family with expenses by selling T-shirts at school.

Students Margaret Williamson, Rachel Ryan, Alexa Bloomberg, Marian McCown and Hannah Miller came up with a T-shirt design and will sell the shirts during lunch today for $12.

I realize that’s short notice, but I am sure if you track one of these girls down, you can still get a shirt.
