Bill Blaydes is representing the buyer of nearly 10 acres on the southwest corner of Skillman-Church. He didn’t say who the buyer was, but did say that it’s a “local group” who will be building “single-family detached housing” on 37 lots. (That’s Blaydes’s emphasis on “detached.” Also, note that 37 is different than our previously reported 35 lots.)

“They are getting ready to try and file for their plat with the City of Dallas,” Blaydes tells us. “I don’t know how long that will take. The contract is subject to being able to get the plat through.”

If it does go through, “I think it will turn out to be something that the neighborhood will be really proud of,” he says.

As we’ve mentioned, the land is currently owned by both Prescott Realty Group, developer of the Lake Highlands Town Center, and Forest Meadow Baptist Church, which is selling a portion of its acreage. We spoke with Sid Morrison of Forest Meadow Baptist, who told us that ever since the prospect of a five-story assisted living facility four years ago, the church has been wanting to sell its land to someone who would build houses.

“We sided with the homeowners association, and went down to City Hall and fought,” Morrison says. “And whatever we do, we are still watching out for the homeowners association.”

Morrison didn’t divulge what he knows about the sale, but says, “whatever happens won’t be some monstrosity like that.” He added that though the land is zoned for up to 10 homes per acre, “we’re not going to sell any land that would be used for anything like that. I don’t think Lake Highlands needs another duplex.”
