Reportedly, a man sitting in a parked vehicle opened fire on Sr. Cpl. Matthew Wagner and his partner Sgt. Rodney Choate, who were working off-duty security at the Wildflower Apartments. Wagner was hit twice and Choate escaped unharmed, said Chief David Brown during an early morning press conference. The first bullet shattered the  bone in Wagner’s arm. Another exploded his pepper spray canister before lodging in his groin, Brown explained.

The shooter continued firing as he made his escape. Fellow officers transported Wagner to Presbyterian Hospital where he reportedly is in stable condition.
