Richland College is hosting two more information sessions about “deferred action,” the program that will allow undocumented young people who meet certain criteria to obtain U.S. work permits. The sessions will cover questions including how to avoid scams, who qualifies, how to apply and associated costs of applying.

A Spanish session will be held today at 6:30 p.m. in Sabine Hall, room 118. An English session will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the same time and place. For more information about the sessions, which are facilitated by a local attorney and Catholic Charities of Dallas, call 972.761.6874.

In other Richland College news, the school was just named to Victory Media’s 2013 Military Friendly Schools list, which recognizes the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide to provide support for students in the military like holding networking events, providing scholarships, maintaining policies to help deployed students continue studying and more.

This is the fourth year the magazine GI Jobs has released this list, which is determined by surveys. You can see Richland’s military friendliness here.
