Spicy tuna.

The long awaited Fire Xbox that’s the official name, I believe — is up and running.

When I placed my first order last Friday evening, I was I bit nervous because the prices are so incredibly cheap. We’re talking 19 different rolls priced at $3.29-$4.99, sashimi for $4.95, Japanese noodles for $5.50-$8, to name a few impressive things on the menu.

I kept it pretty simple this time: vegetable udon noodles, a vegetable roll, a spicy tuna roll and an avocado roll, all for about $20. They told me it would be ready in 8-10 minutes. The food turned out to be more than enough for my 14-year-old daughter and me. The noodles alone could serve as a full meal. They were cooked just right — thick and soft and not too soft — and mixed with fresh broccoli, chopped onions and a light brown sauce. The volcano sauce, which comes on the side, packs a wallop.

The rolls were fresh — the rice sticky, the tuna tasty and the veggies crisp — and, frankly, I couldn’t believe our luck. This place is too good to be true. Fast. Cheap. Good.

(If you’ve tried the steak or hibachi menu, let us know. I didn’t get that far.)

Inside the little Xbox, sushi chefs work out in the open, a polite youngster works a register and, while it caters to to-go and even drive-thru customers, there is a small dining area too.
