So a pal of mine DJ-ed this private party where the Old 97’s performed this week, and I was invited … to crash the party. Not terribly sure I was inconspicuous, in all black for a party whose invitation must have stated “resort wear” as the attire. But it’s not like I got drunk and started a fight or anything, so I hope they didn’t mind too much.
Anyway, I did get a little news tidbit there.
“This song is going to be the new anthem for the Texas Longhorns,” lead singer Rhett Miller told the crowd. “I’m serious. ESPN bought this song, and they’re going to use it as an introduction.”
The song is “A State of Texas.” Here is Miller performing an acoustic version.
