With their proud parents and school counselors looking on, 34 outstanding seniors from Lake Highlands High School received college scholarships from the Lake Highlands Women’s League in an awards ceremony Friday. Also attending to support the high-achieving graduates were RISD Superintendent Dr. Kay Waggoner, retiring RISD trustee Luke Davis and incoming trustee Adam Meierhofer. You can see my photo slideshow of the day here.

LHWL members raised the funds by hosting their annual Holiday in the Highlands home tour, attended by 2000 tour-goers and manned by 100 active members and sustainers numbering almost 200. Ginger Dann and Cindy Terrell, whose homes were displayed on the tour, also attended the ceremony to congratulate the recipients.

In addition to the scholarships, LHWL will contribute more than $50,000 this year to 10 agencies and 15 schools, and will donate more than 1000 hours in hands-on community service. They have given $1.9 million back to LH over 33 years.
