Not a million, exactly, but a sadly large number of small flags on a hill at the corner of Greenville Avenue and Walnut, at Restland Memorial Park, represent 6431 lives lost in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Each flag bears a name. At the center of the display stands a multitude of Texas flags, representing Texas soldiers who have died.
The display was part of the annual Memorial Day service Monday at the Lake Highlands area cemetery.
