White Rock Lake coyotes venture out

The wildlife at White Rock Lake is always a topic of fascination here. We’ve got pigs and peacocks and, of course, coyotes.

Over on the WFAA viewer-submitted photo blog, someone has uploaded three great shots of a rather large coyote at the Celebration Tree Grove, which is right along the trail on the east side of White Rock Lake.

“It was chewing on the name plates and watering hoses,” notes the photographer.

Meanwhile, on the (public) Lake Ridge Estates neighborhood Facebook page, there is a notice about a family pet found dead on its lawn, the apparent victim of a coyote attack.

Very rarely do coyotes attack people (really, almost never, wildlife experts say) but they will go after little animal

If you go back to your archives you will find an article about coyotes. The writer stated that he estimated that there were between seventy five and two hundred coyotes living around the perimeter of White Rock Lake.

Sorry to those who have lost cats. Sadly,  most of the cats would be alive today if you had been responsible and kept them within your own property, not smelling up my flower beds and teasing my dog through the window.

Maybe that coyote will go take care of that pig everyone was so worked up about.

Unfortunately, after piglet stage, I don’t think coyotes mess with wild pigs much.  Not worth the risk!  I like where your head was though!

I’m sure the cat owners appreciate your truly heartfelt sympathy.

I agree.  We need more feral hogs to help control the coyote population!

The coyote was in the same area last night, at Celebration Tree Grove at White Rock Lake. You will find quite a few pictures here:
