Lake Highlands parents Paula and Jason Woodbury will run Sunday’s MetroPCS White Rock Marathon. Their 8-year-old son Garrett is one of the marathon’s honored Patient Champions, who are the faces representing White Rock Marathon beneficiary Texas Scottish Rite Hospital.
Garrett has been a patient at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children since 2006. After a minor surgery to lengthen both of his Achilles tendons, Garrett is now able to walk heel-toe and has a newfound love for running and sports — he has experience handing out water at White Rock Marathon aid stations.
The Wooburys are raising money for the hospital (“Did you know that TSRHC doesn’t charge their patients? That’s right – not a single dime, write the Woodburys on their fundraising page. The goal is to bring in $5,000. So far, they are at $4,365. If you are so inclined, you can help out here.
