Marian Evans is a brilliant and notoriously unattractive woman living in a Victorian society steeped in conventional ideas of female beauty and behavior. She’s a social outcast and in love with a married man when she starts writing fiction under the name George Eliot.

The latest Echo Theater production “A Most Dangerous Woman” follows the real-life story of the most celebrated novelist in all of England who ultimately lives under five different names and remains completely unknown.
