In the first round of soccer playoffs last night, it was the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat for Lake Highlands, as the Lady Wildcats defeated the Garland Owls 3-2, and the men’s team lost 2-1 in The Boneyard.

The video in the player above shows the first goal by spitfire Brinkley Field, recently named a Player to Watch by the Dallas Morning News. That made it 1-1 at the half.

When Glory Williams scored off a pass by Ashley Brandish, she tied the game up 2-2 (video here). A few minutes later, Brinkley received a pass from Lena Anderson and buried her shot. You can watch video of the goal and the girls’ celebration here.

The boys played tough defense but couldn’t seem to buy a goal. The game was tied 0-0 at the half, then North Garland came out firing and the Cats struggled. In the last ten minutes, Reagan Dunk scored off a corner kick, but the clock ran out before the Cats could send the game into dribble up shootout.

The guys have had an amazing season, great fun to watch. The girls play next against A&M Consolidated in Waco this Friday. We’ll keep you updated here on the blog with more details. Go Cats!
