Last Friday police discovered what might be the decomposing bodies of a recent Lake Highlands High School graduate and his mother in a far north Lake Highlands area apartment complex, Creekbend Condominiums near Richland College. Police are still waiting on positive identification of the bodies from the medical examiner’s office, but the Dallas Morning News reported over the weekend that the young man was likely a special education student who graduated from LHHS last summer.

The DMN spoke with Big Brothers Big Sisters program volunteer Dale Long who told the paper he spent many hours with the boy, who couldn’t read or write and who needed constant supervision. He told reporters that a LHHS teacher contacted him regarding the discovery at the apartment complex. Long told the DMN that he took the teen to movies and that the young man worked cleaning trays at Wendy’s for a period of time, but that he could barely communicate beyond saying “yes” and “no.”
