Lake Highlands Soccer Association is hosting registration for spring recreational soccer this week, with enrollment open to boys and girls aged 4 to 19 through this Saturday at midnight. Games will begin February 12th and run mostly on Saturdays until May 15th.

If you have a little guy (or gal) who’s never played the game, it’s great fun to watch, costs very little (the registration fee is $90 and you’ll need cleats and shinguards), and helps kids to learn the lessons and forge the bonds that come from team sports. At my son Ben’s first game at age 4, he hugged his coach, the opposing coach, and the midfield referee when he scored his first goal. Great memories.

You can register online here or you can show up this Saturday from 9-11 am at the LHSA office, 9603 White Rock Trail, Suite 301. First time players need to produce a copy of the child’s birth certificate (no Danny Almonte Little League scandals here), and a medical release, available online.

Co-Ed soccer, a fabulously light-hearted game in which high school boys and girls play on the same team with pop music blaring and hamburgers grilling, begins registration February 11 and begins play April 17th.
