Update: Police arrest ‘person of interest’ in this case.

A 28-year-old restaurant owner was found dead in Lake Highlands early Dec. 12. A neighbor reportedly found Aaron Cheung lying in the backseat of his car in front of his parent’s apartment home in the 8100 block of Skillman, near Skillman-Audelia. Cheung owned Bacon and Friends restaurant in Mesquite. Police have said that robbery was the motive and that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. If the police and reporters are right, this is a random robbery/murder of a young man who was helping to support his parents, and who had a group of friends who cared enough to open his restaurant yesterday. And the “wrong place” is in the Lake Highlands area. The Skillman-Audelia, Forest-Audelia areas of Lake Highlands are known violent-crime hotspots.
