They’re enjoying their vacation now, but before school let out, the kids at Merriman Park Elementary performed an all-school musical, “Holiday in the Park.” With an audience of parents, relatives and friends on hand, they filled the gym with singing for the first all-school winter celebration.
The 6th grade orchestra added their talents for a variety of carols, from Good King Wenceslas to Jingle Bells. Each grade performed a mix of holiday fare, with solo performances by Brook Elkjer, Brooke Self, Lexi Walker, Kate Brackenridge, Elena Coffman and Asha Mittchell delighting the crowd. The audience joined in the finale, singing along to Deck the Halls and Here We Come A-Wassailing.
MPE’s music teacher and choir director, Emily May, directed the performance.
