Both the boys and girls Lake Highlands basketball teams came up short Friday, but there wasn’t a lack of excitement in the games.

The Lady Wildcats fell to South Garland 44-38 at home despite a fourth quarter scoring barrage by Bridget O’Brien.

O’Brien scored 15 of her 26 points in the fourth quarter to bring the Lady Wildcats within striking distance hitting three three-pointers down the stretch.

LHHS trailed 31-19 heading into the fourth quarter and doubled it’s score from the first three quarters, but was unable to finish with the win.

The Lake Highlands boys also poured it on in the fourth quarter against Ennis scoring 22 points in the final period before finishing on the losing end 61-58 at the Scot Classic at Highland Park. James Preston led the Wildcats with 16 points, with Taylor Stell finishing the game with 13 points.

The Wildcats will play at 2 p.m. in the Highland Park main gym for third place in the Scot Classic.
