LHUMC will present Side By Side By Sondheim this weekend
If you’re a fan of show tunes, you’re in for a treat this weekend. Lake Highlands United Methodist Church is hosting “Side By Side By Sondheim,” a musical revue featuring works by Broadway and film composer Stephen Sondheim.
Popular Sondheim songs from productions such as West Side Story, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Follies, Gypsy, Evening Primrose and more will be presented by professional soloists and other members of the LHUMC choir.
“Stephen Sondheim’s works are witty and wonderful,” said Reverend Nicki Lyford, LHUMC’s Minister of Music. Along with songs whose music and lyrics were penned by Sondheim, they’ll present his collaborations with musical theater legends such as Leonard Bernstein, Mary Rodgers, Richard Rodgers and Jule Styne. “Bring your family and your friends and your neighbors,” added Lyford, “and enjoy an evening of memorable entertainment and fun.”
Showtimes are Saturday, October 9 and Sunday, October 10 at 7:30 pm in the LHUMC sanctuary. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 & younger and are available via the LHUMC website. You can email Rev. Lyford for more information.
