If Aw Shucks’ summer platter with its overflowing spicy crab legs, boiled shrimp, red potatoes, corn and (seasonal) crawfish is your seafood fantasy, you’ll love Boiling Crab, which specializes in all of the above (plus clams and oysters on the half shell). They’ll pour the stuff, by the pound, right out on the table for you — seasoned mild, medium, hot or xxx (as in, “help, I can’t feel my face”) — give you a bib and let you go at it. Unlike Aw Shucks, they don’t offer many fried or grilled dishes and are sadly missing the ooey gooey good Aw Shucks hush puppy, but they do offer addictive sweet potato fries, and if you love to get down and finger-licking, eye-watering dirty with the shellfish, this is your far north Lake Highlands alternative to Aw Shucks/ Big Shucks. Oysters are $13.99/doz., shrimp $8.99/lb, clams $9.99/lb. Everything else is market value. Be careful ordering extras — potatoes, sausage, corn and even extra condiments such as butter, because they will nickel and dime you to the poor house. That’s OK, because this is one of the better (while lesser known) places around town for this type of fare. $$ The Boiling Crab 972. 272.7086
