On this week’s podcast, we’re chatting live from White Rock Coffee. Have you heard that Lake Highlands Plaza at Walnut Hill and Audelia is under contract? And the buyer, as of now, is not Lake Highlands United Methodist Church.

Also in retail news, Prescott Realty recently mentioned that it hopes to make an announcement about the Town Center within the next three months. Our opinion is that the mixed-use development, which hinges on its grocery store anchor, won’t have anything to announce until after November’s wet-dry election (which happens to be the subject of October’s cover story). Maybe then we can start thinking about living-working-playing along Wildcat Way.

Since this weekend is homecoming at LHHS, we discuss this DMN story about Mesquite High School’s homecoming dance last weekend, and the kerfuffles that resulted when the dress code caused some students to be turned away. Can we expect anything similar in our neighborhood during this weekend’s festivities?

Stay tuned until the end for our shameless plugs: As part of homecoming, the LHHS band is hosting its annual Varsity Review on Thursday and Saturday nights (watch the blog for more details from Carol Toler), and Lake Highlands grad Max Hartman has returned home to star in a local play. (You may remember Hartman from this story about his Frank Sinatra-like voice.)
