A Lake Highlands High School graduate’s death has been linked to the legal drug K2. K2 effects are reportedly similar to that of marijuana, but stronger. It’s sold in head shops and labeled “incense”. Even before being linked to a death — this might be the first death medically linked to K2 — city officials have been talking about banning the stuff.

Dominique Darrell Tate died at the hospital Friday, and the medical examiner notes that the 19 year old had a history of K2 use. The medical examiner won’t know for sure if K2 was the cause until toxicology reports come back in 12 weeks or so.
