MESQUITE — Lake Highlands High senior running back and Oklahoma State commit Desmond Roland rumbled left, right and all over the field in the Wildcats 49-28 win at Mesquite High School.
Roland rushed for 222 yards and three touchdowns, with a 73-yard sprint in the third to put his stamp on the season opener.
Junior Devonte Sunwengham also rushed for 92 yards and grabbed six passes for 142 yards and four touchdowns on the night.
Sophomore quarterback Michael Ketchmark looked poised in the pocket completing 11-of-16 for 178 yards with one interception and two touchdown passes.
The Wildcats will be back at E.H. Hanby Stadium next week to face Mesquite Horn.
