Lindsey Rider, manager at LHN Rec Center, says the facility may face further cuts, including the possibility of closing, due to the city’s continued quest to cut spending.

The Center is already operating under shortened hours and streamlined staffing.  Jeanne Larson, who teaches exercise classes for adults and seniors, said by e-mail today:  “The impact for us is that we may not have a site available to move during the bond supported remodel, and it is conceivable that we (LHN) may not even reopen after construction is completed.”

Both Larson and Rider believe it may be difficult to rally a strong response because we are in the middle of summer.   Despite the timing, Larson and others who use the facility are planning to rally with e-mails and face-to-face messages to our city council.

The Rec Center is an important Community gathering site for seniors, youth, and parents of pre-schoolers, especially since the spray park opened.
