Healing Hands MinistriesLH’s Healing Hands Ministries was featured by KERA News Monday in a story entitled “Even Public Hospitals Cost Too Much.” For the working poor with no insurance and for those laid off in a bad economy, access to health care has become more and more difficult. KERA’s Bill Zeeble suggested several high-quality low-cost options, including the Healing Hands medical and dental clinic, 7475 Skillman, founded and led by LH mom, Janna Gardner.

Patients with no insurance who don’t qualify for Medicaid are turned away by private hospitals, and public hospitals treat the patient and send him a bill for the full fee. Manuel Balderramos, featured in the story, found Healing Hands after the printing business where he worked for 30 years went out of business and he lost his insurance. He sought treatment for what he thought was a heart problem. Turns out he had diabetes, and he was referred to HHM. “Come in this place, they treat you very, very well,” Balderramos told KERA. “Other places I’ve gone? You sit and wait, that’s it.”

Balderramos’ story sounds a lot like that of thousands of other families – families that are finally receiving treatment and the follow-up care they need at Healing Hands. You can check out the KERA story here.
