Having prelims and finals on the same day, because of weather delays, proved to be no problem for the girls of the Lake Highlands swim team. The girls placed seventh as a team with only four competitors at the Region 3-5A meet Saturday in Mansfield.

All four girls made finals in all of their individual events, in addition to both of their relays. Sophomore Peyton Slater (pictured) was the highest individual placer in the meet, finishing second and one place away from a state berth in the 50 free. She also placed fifth in the 100 back.

Her sister, senior Paige Slater, also landed in the medals with a third place performance in the 100 breast. Additionally, she picked up a fifth place ribbon in the 100 Freestyle.

Senior Laura Jean Muller also helped the team gain valuable points, placing 12th in the 200 individual medley and 13th in the 100 back. Freshmen Siobhan Kelley surprised her older teammates and also made the finals, getting 14th in the 100 breast and 16th in the 50 free. Together, they placed seventh in the 200 medley relay and sixth in the 200 free relay for a total of 122 points.

The boys also had a successful meet, dropping time in all of their relays but ultimately only made finals in the 200 medley, where they placed 13th.  Sophomore Tyler Regan was the only guy who made it past prelims in individual events, placing 15th in the 100 back.
