Former RISD Superintendent David Simmons has been named chief officer for high schools for the Houston ISD. Simmons, who abruptly left RISD just as the school year was starting, was selected after a national search and will earn $165,000 per year, according to the Houston Chronicle. He will serve under Houston ISD’s new Superintendent Terry Grier, who formerly served in San Diego and is restructuring the leadership team. The RISD recently announced Dr. Kay Waggoner as the lone finalist to replace Simmons.
