Matt Werther is a senior in his second year playing wide receiver and catching passes from Ricky Zorn. Werther is also an impact player on the Lake Highlands basketball team, making him one of the few two-sport athletes in the school.

Q: I know that your dad is one of the on-field photographers for the football games. What is it like being photographed by your father?

A: I like that he’s out there taking pictures on the field, but during games, I don’t even think about it.

Q: What is your favorite sports movie?

A: My favorite sports movie would be "Remember the Titans" because in the movie, challenges were overcome and it also related to football.
 

Q: What is the most embarrassing moment you’ve had on either the football field or basketball court?

A: It happened in a basketball game. I rebounded the ball on defense and shot it in the wrong goal.
 

Q: Are you looking forward to the basketball season?

A: Yes I am, but now my focus is on football and getting to state. Coach [Rob] Wylie is looking forward to my return, however.
 

Q: Which sports are your favorite to both watch and play?

A: My favorite sport to play is football because of the atmosphere and I like to watch basketball because the action is nonstop.
 

Q: Who is your favorite professional athlete?

A: My favorite pro athlete is Michael Jordan, because of what he accomplished and what he has inspired young athletes to become.
 

Q: Which regular season game had the best atmosphere this year?

 A: The Skyline game. They came in ranked highly in the state and looking for revenge.
 

Q: What is the biggest obstacle for the team to make a long playoff run?

A: We have to stay focused, in practice and throughout the week. The farther we get into playoffs, there are more distractions. We also need to be healthy and injury free.
