LHHS Student Council officers and committee chairmen used their fourth period planning session Monday to slow down and give thanks. With schools letting out for the Thanksgiving holiday today, it seemed the perfect time to share a meal together in their StuCo workroom. Students brought their traditional holiday dishes and expressed gratitude for these blessings. More, after the jump — plus a slideshow:

As they enjoyed their meal together, math teacher and StuCo sponsor Kathryn Laster told the kids the Thanksgiving meal was an LH tradition, started in 2005 by then-students Emily Stuller and Hannah Adams. Hannah is now a senior at UT. Emily was killed earlier this year in a car accident near the Baylor campus as she drove to an early morning class. Emily has been remembered often by LH students and teachers who recall her easy smile and giving spirit.

The LHHS cheerleaders’ Build-A-Cat program raises funds for the Buckner Children’s Home in honor of Emily, who was adopted. For more information about purchasing a stuffed Wildcat or making a donation in Emily’s memory, you can email Lizzy Cronin.
