The Lady Wildcat soccer team spent the last two weeks raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to support their coach, Misty Benson, who lost her sister, Diane, to leukemia. Collecting donations from multiple donors – often $5 at a time – the team surpassed their goal of $1,000 by raising $3,122.75 so far. Their efforts were in conjunction with the Society’s “Light the Night” Walk at SMU last Sunday night, and several members of the team walked and carried balloons in support of Coach Benson’s sister and others who have grappled with various forms of blood cancer.

Each team member had a goal to raise $25, but most were more successful, including: sophomore Glory Williams – $330, freshman Gabby Gavson – $225, freshman Natalie Morris – $195, junior Charlotte Currier – $140, and sophomore Gabby Mejia – $135. The team would still love to accept your donation, either in person or by contributing online. “These girls are amazing,” Coach Benson said after the walk. “I am immensely proud of them.”
