A flasher exposed himself to a Lake Highlands woman at her home last Friday night.

A woman was painting in living room of her Lake Highlands home, on Crestlake and Parkford just east of Audelia, at about 11 p.m. when a naked white male — 6’1, thin and about 16-22 years old — ran up to her living room French doors, stood there for a minute, and then ran off, according to the woman’s husband.

The victim’s husband says he has possibly heard of similar instances in the area and is calling on his neighbors for help.

“While this may sound like a simple high school prank, it raises concern for people that move to what is perceived to be a safe neighborhood,” he says. “I believe I had read awhile back about a similar prank happening to some in our neighborhood, and for the sake of catching the perpetrator as well as overall neighborhood safety, my wife and I would love the opportunity to collaborate with anyone else who has run into this seemingly serial flasher.”

The victim’s husband says it appears the flasher entered his backyard between his house and the neighbor’s house by jumping the fence. The perp appears to have disrobed in the yard, leaving behind a blue and black Speedo and a pair of boxer shorts.

The couple says the police didn’t seem overly concerned and treated the incident as a probable prank. That doesn’t make them feel much better, though. “I am no social expert," says the victim’s husband, "but I am fearful that anyone that is brave enough to flash someone will only have an appetite for shock that will grow larger in time.”

If it is a prank, the kid sure won’t be laughing when he’s caught and charged with a sex offense. Those kind of charges tend to haunt people.

Because the case is filed as a sex offense, the victim’s name is omitted from the police report, and she requested that we not use it.
